Period of Migration (1932-1940)
Following the Japanese occupation of Shanghai and Yun Bonggil’s attempt to assassinate the Japanese emperor on April 29, 1932, the Korean Provisional Government had to leave Shanghai after 14 years. The Provisional Government moved to Hangzhou and Jinjiang, moving again to Changsha, Guangzhou, Liuzhou, and Qijiang after the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War in 1937. The period of migration lasted for almost eight years, until the government settled in Chongqing, China’s wartime capital.
