The New Village Movement developed as a spiritual campaign across the whole country. Sisterhood organizations to support the rural New Village Movement were set up and the Movement even received support from outside the country. By concentrating the village community, the regional community, and the ethnic community, the New Village Movement functioned as a mechanism to mobilize state and national consciousness.
