Housing
During the New Village Movement there were some developments in housing, but the most ubiquitous project was that of roof improvements. There was a policy to change thatched roofs to coverings of improved tiles or slate, and workers who had to install thatched roofs every year were released to carry out work in different places and straw could be used elsewhere.
