Japanese War Memorials
Since annexation in 1910, the Japanese authorities made efforts to glorify and commemorate historical wars of aggression and to justify the colonization of Korea. They published postcards with pictures of relics related to the Japanese generals who fought in the 『Imjin』 War between Korea and Japan, and established monuments at battlefields from the Sino-Japanese War and Russo-Japanese War. By doing so, the colonial authorities claimed the occupation of Korea based on their sacrifice and also their future claims to the territory.
